Hot dog buns: the secret to making them perfect!

  • 240 ml (1 cup) hot milk;
  • 20 g (2 tablespoons) of sugar;
  • 1 egg;
  • 7 g (1 ½ tsp) dry yeast;
  • 440 g (3 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour;
  • 2 g (½ tsp) salt;
  • 30 g (2 tablespoons) soft butter.
Whisk the hot milk with the sugar, egg and salt. Sprinkle with dry yeast and whisk to combine.
Add the sifted flour to the liquid and knead until smooth.
Knead the softened butter into the dough and form a ball.
Reserve the ball so that it doubles in volume (about 1 hour).
Cut the dough into 10 pieces and roll each into a hot dog bun as shown in the video. Set the buns aside until they have doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
Brush hot dog buns with beaten egg and bake at 180°C/350°F for 20 minutes.
